This type of cancer is found in all breeds of dogs but is more common is some breeds. The breeds more susceptible to the disease are.
- Golden Retrievers
- Rottweilers
- Pit Bulls
- Poodles
- German Shepherds
- Boxers
- Scottish Terriers
- Beagles
- Basset Hounds
These breeds are said to be more at risk because of breed traits that are inherited. Lymphoma of the dogs can be helped with proper and timely medical treatment; a dog’s survival rate is fifty percent with proper medical treatment. But in case the disease is not treated properly most dogs will die within a period of two months.
Symptoms of Dog Lymphoma
Dogs can show many symptoms in case of this disease being present in them. It is important that you keep watch on your dog’s health and get it checked as soon as possible if you notice any of these symptoms
- Lumps on the abdomen, back, armpits or neck
- Lack of appetite
- Vomiting
- Fever
- Weight loss
If these symptoms are present a vet will generally run a series of urine and blood tests to diagnose and establish the dog disease lymphoma and then start necessary treatment.
