The Maltipom, also called the Pomanees, is the hybrid of Maltese and Pomeranian. This breed of dogs is particularly named as "designer dogs",Maltipom has become one of the popular among smaller cross breeds.
The ideal Maltipom should demonstrate a diligent and perky expression and should be physically active.The Maltipom is high-spirited and energetic and are loyal, loving and caring. They are good at housekeeping, especially with aged people and children. They have a very friendly approach with other dogs and non-canine pets, especially with those with whom they are brought up with. As they easily gets socialize, they don’t like to be left alone for a long period of time;otherwise it might lead them to destructive behavior and continuous barking. They are cautious and suspicious of unknown persons and quickly alert their master about visitors and out of the ordinary sounds.
If brushing is not done regularly, it might lead to matting. Bathing should be done when necessary using a mild shampoo and it’s very important to take care of their teeth in order to prevent early tooth loss.
The Maltipom may possess a single or double coat that is usually extensive and smooth or straight, and profuse with a dense under coat.
It is recommended to make them familiar at early stage. It’s difficult to train them in houses, so crate training is suitable.Maltipom can’t be trained by using abrupt training methods, so it must be done with politeness, fairness, endurance, and consistency.
The Maltipom is well suited for apartment living. They enjoy playing indoors and should be provided with secure toys in order to keep them occupied. They should be taken for leashed walks, family play sessions and off lead play time in a secured fenced yard.
