When a dog becomes a member of your family, you want him to be acceptable to everyone who visits your home, and well behaved wherever he may be – travelling in the car, walking on the street or running in the park. He has to learn good manners, and you must instill these in him good manners, and you must instill these in him by obedience training and patient repetition, watchfulness for instinctive behavior which has to be controlled, and by teaching him to trust you. To be successful, you need to understand your dog’s senses and body language, and how to recognize problem behavior and treat it.
